AddaLab

Where curious minds gather — a 10-week machine learning workshop series for first-year CSE students, ending with a real project and a publication in hand.

About

Not a classroom. An adda.

AddaLab started as a simple idea: the best learning happens the way a good adda happens — people gathered around one table, one problem, genuinely curious, unafraid to ask the basic question out loud. We teach machine learning that way. Small cohorts, real datasets, real questions, and a mentor sitting with you, not lecturing at you.

Right now: hands-on ML workshops for first-year CSE students.

Where we're headed: a proper research lab, studying how people actually see, focus, and think — starting with eye-fixation research.

The Program

Ten workshops. One portfolio. One publication.

  • 1 Foundations — Python, data, and how ML actually thinks
  • 2–4 Data wrangling, feature engineering, first models
  • 5 Midpoint — your project topic takes shape
  • 6–9 Building, training, evaluating, iterating
  • 10 Capstone — a finished project, written up for publication

Who it's for

First-year CSE students, ready to build something real.

No prior ML background assumed. If you can write basic code and you're curious enough to sit through ten Saturdays of real work, you're the right fit.

What's next

From workshop to laboratory.

AddaLab won't stay a workshop series forever. The plan is to grow this into a research lab — starting with eye-fixation and visual attention research — where today's students become tomorrow's collaborators.
